Everything I Read

Is sending me some sort of message.
I'm currently taking a philosophy class, and in Plato's "Apology" Socrates says, "What's best and easiest isn't to put down other people, but to prepare oneself to be the best one can."

It's interesting that the stubborn and lazy patterns of humans to not change their thoughts or ways hasn't budged over time. I wonder what this says about the human race as moral beings.

Also, earlier today, I wandered into the student union building and a Bible study seemed to be taking place. I overheard the leader saying something about making poor decisions, and he claimed those actions to be "selfish." What he was implying was to not just think about oneself, but to see things as a whole. I don't know about the people that were actually attending this meeting, but something in my head just clicked. The things I have been learning all seemed to align and flow in a logical stream. To do so, I think people have to love themselves with intentions of spreading love to others too. Easier said than done of course, and it takes some inward reflection at why you feel the way you do about yourself. In the end, I think people need to be told that they are deserving because the world and competition around them constantly tell them otherwise. I hope they rise above.
